UFC Fight Night 19 Draws In 2.5 Million Viewers

September 18, 2009, New York, NY - The 19th edition of “UFC FIGHT NIGHT” on Spike TV Wednesday, September (8:00-10:05pm ET/PT), headlined by an exciting lightweight battle between Nate Diaz and Melvin Guillard, was the second most watched in network history. The two-hour fight card drew 2.5 million viewers, the most since “Ultimate Fight Night 14” in July 2008, which garnered an audience of 3.1 million in a and was headlined by UFC middleweight king, Anderson Silva. Emanating from the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, OK, the hard-hitting UFC fight card was the top-rated program with Men 18-34 and Men 18-49 in all of cable television in its timeslot. The telecast peaked at 2.9 million to watch Diaz’s second round triumph via submission. Overall, the “UFC Fight Night” drew a 2.3 (1.3 million) rating in M18-49, a 2.6 (762,000) in M18-34, a 1.9 household rating and attracted an average audience of 2.5 million viewers. The night began with one of the most memorable bouts of the year, a three-round slugfest between Nate Quarry and Tim Credeur. Following Quarry’s victory, the night’s action ensued with two three-round wars, the first between Carlos Condit and Jake Ellenberger, the second between Gray Maynard and Roger Huerta. Following the live fight, Spike TV debuted season 10 “The Ultimate Fighter” to 4.1 million viewers, a network record for an original series. At midnight, Spike TV drew 864,000 viewers for a repeat of first episode. The two telecasts combined for 5 million viewers to see Kimbo Slice and 15 other top heavyweight prospects begin their quest for a six-figure contract with the UFC. Advertisement:
